Pride Mountain's first Reserve wine, the 1993 Reserve Claret (102 cases produced) is a blend of essentially 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot, with tiny dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. An awesome wine, it exhibits an opaque plum/purple color, as well as a sweet, rich nose of minerals, smoke, spice, and jammy black currants and plum. Deep, full-bodied, and chewy, yet strikingly well-defined, this is a fabulous effort that should drink well for 15-20 years. This Spring Mountain winery continues to push the envelope of quality as evidenced by the current releases - the finest wines they have yet produced. Moreover, these wines catapult Pride Mountain into the top echelon of California's quality wineries.
