Pierre Morey is capable of making super wines, but his 1991s all reveal the effects of dilution caused by the heavy rains that plagued the harvest. Two of the less expensive wines merit attention. The 1991 Batard-Montrachet is the most ambitious of these offerings. It is an understated, subtle wine with some elegance, but it is dominated by oak. Drink it over the next several years. I did not have a chance to taste Morey's 1992s, lamentably in view of the fact that they are highly regarded by a number of my Burgundy friends.
