The spice-scented 2001 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers exhibits black currant and blackberry flavors in a foursquare, firm format. Revealing impressive depth of fruit, this wine’s medium-bodied personality will need to shed some of its tannin and have its fruit blossom for it to ultimately merit an excellent score. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2010.
The Lecheneaut brothers, Philippe and Vincent, have a distinct preference for the 2000s over the 2001s. According to them, “the acidity levels are higher in 2001 and the tannins had trouble ripening whereas in 2000 we had superb ripeness.”
