From the original "Himmelreich" as well as the "Braunes" relatively far up the steep slope and from 80- to 90-year-old vines comes Richter's 2020 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett. Some of the grapes were picked early, but a third were picked about three weeks later. The wine was aged two-thirds in steel and one-third in cask and comes across as a round and juicy as well as racy-piquant and persistently salty Kabinett with precision and laser-like acidity. The nose is pure, exact and flinty like an Eiswein (yet not that ripe and concentrated) and lean and mineral on the grippy finish, yet it has juicy fruit, which indicates impressive aging potential. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 0721 in November 2021.
