The 2012 Bolgheri Rosso Adèo is not quite at the levels seen in recent years. The bouquet opens to ripe tones of strawberry and blackcurrant but you also get a raw spice characteristic that may indicate uneven oak integration. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot and the wine sees 30% new oak enhanced by 70% used wood for informal appeal. The Merlot component feels jammy and ripe, while the Cabernet delivers power at the back.

Blueberry, black currant and violet notes are enhanced by vanilla and sweet spice accents in this suave red. Dense and structured, with a long, fresh aftertaste. Needs some time to absorb the oak.
