The 2008 Hell's Kitchen is an attractive, mid-weight wine with good fleshiness in its black fruit. Ideally it is best enjoyed over the next few years. In 2008 the blend is 47% Syrah, 21% Grenache, 21% Mourvedre and 11% Tannat. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013. These wines from Jada are bold and decidedly up-front in their fruit. The wines see a fair amount of new oak and are bottled without fining or filtration. The only thing missing here is a measure of excitement, but this is a relatively young winery, and there is every reason to think the estate can realize the potential these releases show.Tel (805) 226-4200; www.jadavineyard.com
