The gorgeous 2011 Louis (80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) is a beautifully precise, well-delineated, dense purple-colored effort displaying classic notes of creme de cassis, white chocolate, spice box and background oak. Full-bodied and rich, this impressive, surprisingly dense and opulent 2011 is a star of the vintage. Give it 1-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 12-15. These wines have gone from strength to strength since being made by the owners of my favorite French bistro, l’Ami Louis. Previously known as Rol Fombrauge, Chateau Louis made two cuvees.
