The 2007 Emilio Moro is the Bodega’s most traditional wine, aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby-colored, the nose displays cedar, Asian spices, leather, incense, black cherry, and blackberry. Dense and concentrated on the palate with excellent length and several years of aging potential, it is an outstanding value in serious Ribera del Duero wine. Bodegas Emilio Moro is one of Ribera del Duero’s benchmark producers.

Ripe, compote-like fruit with aromas of redcurrant and oak. Lip-smacking acidity and crisp tannins. Juicy and refreshing with plenty of popcorny oak.

Opens with black fruit aromas, dry oak and spice. The palate shows an oaky creaminess, sticky tannins and solid berry fruit flavors that are matched and maybe even trumped by buttery oak. A little dry and drawing on the finish, but still a very nice RDD.——M.S.(8/1/2010)—— 88
