The 2008 Gattinara San Francesco is pretty and delicate in this vintage, although it is the richest and deepest of these offerings. Sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, mint and anise are some of the many notes that are woven together in this refined, polished Gattinara. The San Francesco turns a bit darker and richer as it sits in the glass, but never abandons its essentially medium-bodied personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. This is another set of absolutely gorgeous wines from Antoniolo. Over the last few years, this historic estate seems to have found a higher gear of absolute quality.
