The 2010 Quibia, 50% Callet and 50% Premsal with three months ageing on the lees, has a light nose of almond and hazelnut that is well defined, almost reticent. The palate is crisp on the entry with zesty, ripe stone fruit such as nectarine, and a touch of orange zest on the vibrant citrus finish. Simple but delicious! Drink now-2015.
Anima Negra was established in 1994 by Pere Ignasi Obrador, Miquel Angel Cerda and Frances Grimault. They began modestly, using milk tanks from an old dairy farm and purchasing locally grown Callet grapes from farmers. Now, they source fruit from 135 selected parcels within six miles of the winery, the vines are all dry-farmed, and are between 50 and 85 years in age. Along with “4 Kilos,” they prove that holiday-goers in Mallorca should spend less time soaking up rays on the beach and more time seeking out its wines.
