The 2007 Batchelor’s Button Cabernet Sauvignon is made up of 89% Cabernet from the Bacchus Vineyard Block 9 planted in 1972, 7% Cabernet from the Wallulla Vineyard, and 4% Petit Verdot from the Elderding Vineyard. It was aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. It delivers a nose of balsam wood, pencil lead, mineral, violets, and blackberry. Ripe and savory on the palate with some elegance, with a bit more depth and concentration, it would have merited an outstanding rating. Brett and Denise Isenhower began their Walla Walla-based winery in 1999. Their response to recessionary times has been to cut production and move primarily to direct sales. As a result, they have established a tasting room in Woodinville (where the customers are located).Tel. (509) 526-7896; www.isenhowercellars.com
