The Beaune Clos Des Mouches is Drouhin's flagship white, and the 1996 is superb. Revealing deep, austere mineral aromas, it possesses a gorgeously ripe, juicy, medium-to-full-bodied, and superbly-balanced personality. Almond paste, honeysuckle blossoms, and gravel flavors can be found in this silky wine. Its long, drawn-out, and precise finish is admirable. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2009. All of Drouhin's whites, with the sole exception of the Montrachet, were bottled between early September and the end of October, 1997.Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel (212) 818-0770.
