One of the most magnificent Pinot Noirs I have tasted from California, Brewer-Clifton’s 2007 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard finished at 15.1% natural alcohol. This classic Pinot boasts notes of cloves, Christmas fruitcake, forest floor, black raspberries and black cherries. My early tasting notes noted that it reminded me of the 1990 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti red burgundies, which were compelling wines. While I did not make that comment at this vertical tasting, the 2007 is prodigious. Full-bodied, unctuously textured with red, blue and back fruits, a terrific perfume and a velvety voluptuousness, this beauty can be drunk now as well as over the next decade.
