Completely different in style than the Melville, but equally impressive is the 2002 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by big, earthy, blackberry, plum, clove, and liqueur-like aromas reminiscent of a Clos de la Roche from Hubert Lignier. Lots of raspberry, blueberry, cherry and forest floor aromas along with a hint of bouquet garni jump from the glass of this 2002 Pinot Noir. With relatively high alcohol (15.6%), a beautiful perfume and a dark ruby/plum color, this full-bodied, fully mature effort should continue to drink well for 5-8 years.
