Completely different in style than the Melville, but equally impressive is the 2002 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by big, earthy, blackberry, plum, clove, and liqueur-like aromas reminiscent of a Clos de la Roche from Hubert Lignier. Dense, opulent, and voluptuously-textured with terrific richness as well as firm tannin in the finish, it will benefit from another year of cellaring, and drink well for 7-10 years. One can’t say enough about this young team that is doing such spectacular work in Santa Rita Hills’ cool climate vineyards.Tel.
