The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Pietranera is the most structured and tannic of the three wines I tasted from Centolani. The aromas and flavors struggle to emerge from beneath a wall of tannin in this imposing yet compact wine. I very much like the sense of energy in the glass, but whether the wine ever opens remains somewhat of a question mark. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020.
