The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Pietranera is from a part of the appellation near Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Dark in color, spicy, and expansive on the nose, its palate of wild cherries, tar, and liquorice is powerful and sustained but smooth in texture and velvety on the finish as well. Drink: 2005-2016.
