The most difficult wine to assess is the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Armstrong Ranch, a high elevation vineyard on Diamond Mountain. It reveals a deep ruby/purple hue along with a muscular, austere, tannic style packed with extract. The wine is just backward and needs some time to come around. Notes of earth, coffee and black currants are present, but the wine is closed. Tel. (800) 331-8266; Fax (707) 963-1412
