Produced from two parcels of equal size, one in the Mazoyeres-Chambertin and the other from Charmes-Chambertin, Dujac’s 2002 Charmes-Chambertin is the finest I’ve tasted from this famous estate. Its gorgeous aromatics reveal profound cherry scents intermingled with flowers and fresh herbs. Concentrated, seamless, and boasting a sublime satiny mouth-feel, it harmoniously bathes the taster’s palate with waves of candied red fruits. Raspberries, strawberries, cherries, notes of vanilla, white pepper, and violets can be found in its delightfully seductive and complex medium-bodied personality. I could almost hear Elvis crooning “Love Me Tender” as I reveled in this gem’s ripe fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2014.
