Seysses told me that his goal for Charmes-Chambertin is to make a complex and elegant wine rather than an extracted one. While I am convinced the two are not mutually exclusive, his 1995 is a delicious, light-ruby colored wine. Aromatically possessing refined notes of sweet perfume and an attractive, silky texture, this spicy, cherry and strawberry-flavored offering has adequate length and a light-to medium body. It should be cellared for 4-5 years and drunk over the subsequent 6-8 years. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29.
