This opaque ruby/purple-colored, 100% barrel-fermented wine (American oak) is an exuberant, exotic-styled Ribera del Duero with copious quantities of blackberry and cherry fruit, chocolate, smoked herbs, and barbecue spices. Delicious, with abundant oak in addition to the jammy fruit, it has not developed much complexity or delineation, but I suspect that will emerge with another 1-2 years of bottle age. It might even merit an outstanding rating. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2012.
