Amiot's finest wine is his blockbuster Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses. Revealing a dark ruby color and intense aromas of blackberries, wild blueberries, cassis, earth and sweet sauteed mushrooms it bursts with tangy, concentrated, admirably extracted and layered red and black berry fruit. Refined, elegant and stupendously long (it finishes on sweet notes of cinnamon candy), this full-bodied beauty will be at its best between 2004-2012. Bravo!
Christian Amiot has been responsible for this estate's wines since 1990 and the quality of his wines has progressed admirably with each vintage. As Robert Parker stated in issue # 100 (August, 1995), the wines of the Domaine Amiot-Servelle "go from strength to strength." I was quite taken by the opulent yet structured nature of the graceful, juicy, beautifully ripe and extracted wines reviewed in this segment. Amiot is a star in the making.
