The floral-scented 1998 Batard-Montrachet has outstanding traits, yet also displays chinks in its armor. Ripe white fruits can be discerned in this concentrated grand cru. However, its personality momentarily dissipates in the mid-palate, and its tangy finish ends on a somewhat warm, alcoholic note. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
