A big surprise was the degree to which I blew it with respect to Jacques Reynaud's 1994s. Now in bottle, they are significantly richer and more complete than my reviews indicated when I tasted the component parts last year. The 1994 Cotes du Rhone Fonsalette is a gorgeously rich wine with a deep ruby/purple color, a peppery, spicy, herb, and jammy black-cherry nose, moderate tannin, full body, and super-intensity and length. This wine has turned out to be an outstanding example of Cotes du Rhone that should drink well for 15+ years. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.Importer: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800
