The remarkable 1999 Zinfandel Turley Estate (225 cases, 15.4% alcohol) was made from 4-year old vines (with tight 3 x 6 spacing) planted adjacent to the well-known Aida Vineyard. Drinking this wine is akin to drinking blackberry and strawberry liqueur mixed with smoke, spice, pepper, and truffles. A touch of volatile acidity adds to the aromatic fireworks. Full-bodied, unctuously-textured, and exceptionally rich, with enough glycerin and thickness to please the most demanding hedonists, this is Zinfandel on steroids. Drink it over the next decade.
