Produced from long-forgotten varietals such as Arbanne (10%), Petit Meslier (30%), and Fromenteau (30%) – with the balance a blend of the traditional Pinot Meunier (15%), Chardonnay (10%), and Pinot Noir (5%) – Aubry’s 1998 Le Nombre d’Or Campanae Veteres Vites is extremely distinctive. Its aromas of aging milk intermingled with toast lead to a light to medium-bodied palate that is bone dry. Flavors of old wood, herbs, and notes of orange blossoms can be found in its singular character. Readers should know that the sample I tasted of Aubry’s non-vintage Rose was outstanding yet bore no identifiable marks (disgorgement date, etc.) to distinguish it from other bottlings.Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
