This thick garnet/purple-colored Gigondas offers up aromas of Provencal herbs, smoked olives, beef blood, and sweet, jammy red and black fruits. Full-bodied, opulent, and massive on the palate, with plenty of tannin, this is a husky, fiery style of Gigondas that should drink well for a decade or more. Anticipated maturity: now-2008. Last tasted 6/96.
