The real surprise from Fonterutoli was the excellent quality of its 1991s. The 1991 Chianti Classico Ser Lapo is excellent, nearly outstanding. The wine displays a dark color, considerable concentration, medium to full body, intriguing, spicy, hickory smoke, and black-cherry components, and a long, ripe, tannic finish.
