The 2001 Salanques is a reasonably priced offering from Priorat. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Carignan, and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, it is a medium-bodied, elegant red with plenty of red and black fruits as well as notions of minerals and smoke. It is best drunk over the next 5-6 years.
