Zinfandel enthusiasts have long admired the amazing job Rosenblum Cellars does with such a diverse array of Zinfandel grapes. In 1994, Rosenblum has again hit the jackpot with a bevy of textbook Zinfandels.
The most impressive Rosenblum offerings are their single vineyard wines. The 1994 Zinfandel Harris-Kratka Vineyard reveals a deep ruby/purple color, but is more closed, structured, and tannic, particularly when compared to some of the more open knit 1994 Rosenblum wines. To my palate, this wine should be cellared for a year while enjoying some of the other offerings. Although backward and less evolved, it is a powerful, muscular, high octane (14.1% alcohol) Zinfandel. It should keep for 7-8 years. NOTE: All the wines in this article were tasted in May, 1996.
