Argiolas' 2000 Korem (produced from indigenous varietals called Bovale Sardo, Cannonau, and a touch of Carignan) is a barrique-aged offering. Aged 12 months in French wood, this deep ruby/purple-colored 2000 exhibits aromas of graphite, black currants, tobacco, and a hint of leather. Full-bodied, deep, and concentrated with noticeable structure as well as tannin in the finish, it is less accessible and seductive than its two less expensive siblings. Six to twelve months of cellaring should result in a promising red to enjoy over the next 7-8 years.
