The 2001 Barbicone, from the estate’s best Sangiovese vineyard, a deep, fresh ruby/garnet, features a warm, smoky, tobacco and chocolate nose, and subtle, fine-grained, and classy flavors with more than adequate force and depth. Deceptively elegant, this silky example of Sangiovese from the Tuscan coast will easily last a dozen years.
