The 1999 Cote Rotie offers the appellation's peppery, earthy, roasted characteristics along with excellent sweetness, and a pure black currant and crushed black olive-scented bouquet. This medium-bodied and round offering is best consumed during its first 7-8 years of life.
This young grower is one of Cote Rotie's modernists, destemming all of his fruit, and utilizing barriques, of which 50% are new. The fruit for these wines is all grown in the southern half of the appellation. Pleasing softness, finesse, and balance result in appealing efforts.
