From a vineyard planted in schist soils, the 2007 Cote Rotie Les Rochains exhibits an inky/purple color in addition to a more exotic, floral-scented nose displaying notions of sweet raspberry and cassis fruit, licorice, underbrush, and pain grille. Super-exotic, flamboyant, and remarkably soft and velvety, it should drink beautifully for 10-15 years. It is a hedonistic, head-turning, top-notch Cote Rotie. (Not yet released)This small, 14-acre estate is one of the finest in Cote Rotie (the Bonnefonds also own 2.5 acres in Condrieu), and their 2007 offerings are among the top wines of the vintage in this appellation.Importer: A Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel.
