The 2004 Cote Rotie Les Rochains exhibits more fruit and hints of oak and spring flowers, but then seems to narrow out in the mouth because of the relatively high acidity. It doesn’t have the character of the Cote Rozier or the charm of the regular Cote Rotie, but it is still a very good effort for this vintage. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Bonnefond has emerged as one of the finest producers of Cote Rotie with a strong showing in nearly every vintage except for the poorer years like 2002. Even in 2004 his wines have more charm, fruit, and complexity than those of most of his peers.Importer: A Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel.
