Socre’s 2005 Barbaresco Roncaglie offers good up-front intensity in its dark red fruit, but most of the wine’s appeal is rather immediate as there is little development of complexity in the aromas and flavors. This medium to full-bodied Barbaresco possesses excellent density but the coarse tannins convey an impression of rusticity, something which is also felt on the finish, where notes of alcohol are prominent.
