Sweet black fruits, rocks, and anise can be found in the aromatics of the 2003 Volnay Caillerets (red). Coming on the heels of a terrific 2002 (retasted at the estate and earning a score of 92+), this wine is fleshy as well as crammed with stone-laced red cherries, blackberries, and cassis. Medium-bodied, extremely flavorful, exquisitely ripe, its sappy fruit is seamlessly carried through its long, tannin-filled finish. Projected maturity: 2010-2018.
