The 1994 Late Bottled Vintage Port is an old vines field blend aged in used Portuguese 9,000-liter tanks. It was bottled in October 1998. I haven't seen this in six years. It is still showing beautifully, although it has slipped a bit. It was a bit dull on opening, but that was temporary. Some 30 to 40 minutes of aeration allowed it to awaken and become expressive. At that point, the juicy and gentle finish was wonderful. It's just delicious, elegant, understated and fresh. That said, it does show signs of needing to be drunk. It's thinned. The structure is nominal at this point. There are clear signs of maturity, although it has not decayed. It will certainly hang on longer, as they do not abruptly fall of the table, but it's time to drink up. We're at the 25+-year mark now for an LBV. It is still a joy to drink. Don't get greedy.
