Fashioned from Dijon clone 777, the 2012 Pinot Noir South Slope comes from a vineyard where the berries tend to be slightly bigger than those from the North Slope. It sees 60% new oak and comes across as slightly more tart and earthy, with a Pommard premier cru-like meatiness and structure. It offers more red fruits than the North Slope, particularly pomegranates, strawberries and sweet cherries, intermixed with underbrush and spice. Consume it over the next 7-8 years.
