The 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru, from purchased fruit, amounts to just a barrel this year. There are touches of almond and white chocolate on the nose, very charming, though it does not quite have the sophistication of the Chevalier-Montrachet Clos des Chevaliers. The palate is beautifully balanced with superb salinity, nicely focused if not quite as detailed as Sauzet's Montrachet. Still, there is real density here and a sustained finish, completing a fine "Monty" to enjoy over the next two decades.
