The 2005 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Malandrino reveals a big, chewy personality with generous dark fruit, spices, and toasted oak in a very pure, compelling style. The use of oak appears to be more refined than the 2004, and the 2005 will likely offer better balance than its older sibling once it settles down a bit in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.
