Fontanabianca is based in the Neive subzone of the appellation. The 2014 Barbaresco shows a thin and luminous ruby red appearance. The bouquet is fine and subdued. The complexity is there, but it plays at a lower volume and perhaps takes a bit more effort to identify. This wine surprised me, first for the impressive integrity of fruit, and second for its silky elegance. The finish is long, smooth and driven by pretty menthol and balsam herbs. This is a great Nebbiolo to drink in the near term when its fruit is still so bright and polished.

This is packed with ripe, sweet cherry, spice and licorice flavors, allied to a firm, sinewy texture. Shows very good balance, with a mix of fruit and tannins on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2033. 1,200 cases made, 500 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barbaresco Select to Add
