Unlike the 1989, the proportions of oak and extraction are in balance in the 1990 Barbera d'Asti Pomorosso. The 1990 is richer, more highly extracted, and fuller-bodied, with gobs of glycerin and layers of rich, ripe fruit. The overall impression is one of creamy suppleness enhanced by moderate levels of toasty, smoky, new oak.
