The excessive amount of new oak displayed by the 1989 Barbera d'Asti Pomorosso nearly obliterates the wine's fruit. There is some ripeness, but the overall impression is too woody for such a medium-bodied, delicate style of wine. It is good, but a less heavy hand with the oak would have resulted in a more attractive, better balanced wine. Importer: Winebow, Inc., Hohokus, NJ.
