The 2013 Saint Aubin 1er Cru les Combes has a not dissimilar nose to the en Remilly at the moment: stony, rocky even, a real wine of " terroir." Giving it time to open, there are hints of lemon sherbet and mandarin just lurking offstage learning their lines. The palate is well balanced on the entry, with a fine line of acidity. Perhaps the finish is just missing the complexity augured by the nose, but I would be intrigued to revisit this in a year’s time as there is plenty of substance here.
