The 1990 Shiraz is a fabulous example of a wine that achieved 15.5% alcohol and was probably not made with the same attention to detail of more recent vintages of the Astralis vineyard. Very fresh, lively, with a dense saturated purple/black color, this opulent, full-bodied wine offers up notes of roasted meats, herbs, blackberry liqueur, smoke, and mineral. Extremely thick, with voluptuous texture, sweet tannin, and plenty of glycerin and length, this blockbuster Shiraz is just now reaching its plateau. Anticipated maturity: now-2018.
