The 2012 Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube Sp?tlese has a bright color and opens with a beautifully matured bouquet of bright, ripe fruits, a touch of caramel and notes of overripe golden delicious, with nice slate aromas in the background. Lush, round and piquant on the palate, this is a pure, salty-piquant and stimulating Riesling with grip and tension. The acidity here is terrific (8 grams per liter) and balances the 42 grams of unfermented sugar perfectly. This is a highly stimulating Sp?tlese that is still on its way; it has very fine tannins and is still very young. Daniel still has 200 bottles left, but he considers the wine too young for a re-release. Tasted February 2018.
