Umbrian Riccardo Cotarella makes the wines for this small, 50-acre estate situated in the hills near the famous village of Assisi. The 2000 Assisi Rosso is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot aged in large foudres. Soft, ripe, stylish, and graceful, it displays Burgundian-like cherry and floral notes. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
