A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Syrah and 5% Malbec, the 2018 Estate Reserve begins with aromas of crème de cassis, dark cherry, dusty plum, blackberry skin and red flowers that sway with elements of baked earth and soft baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the wine delivers flavors of cinnamon-sprinkled black cherries, blackberry reduction and elements of bitter dark chocolate and black tea. The red blend wears a firm tannic coat and ends with a long, lingering finish that should deliver pleasure until its 10th birthday. The wine rested for 27 months in all-new French oak barrels. 3,468 bottles were filled.

Opening in the glass with reticent aromas of French roast, toasty new oak and black fruits, the 2014 Estate Reserve is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with juicy acids, decent concentration and a youthfully chewy finish. It's a rustic blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot and 11% Petit Verdot that should reach its peak within 6 or 7 years.

Another outstanding wine is the 2013 Estate Reserve, which is 33% Merlot, 33% Petit Verdot, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It spent 18 months in new French oak barrels. Black currants, singed leather, scorched earth and licorice all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, lightly textured, relatively upfront and polished Bordeaux blend than can be enjoyed today, or cellared for a decade.

A sensational Bordeaux blend, the 2012 Estate Reserve checks in as a blend of 28% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Petit Verdot that spent 21 months in 100% new French oak. It offers thrilling cassis, caramelized black cherries, licorice and toasted bread notes to go with a full-bodied, ultra-pure, multidimensional feel on the palate. This is Walla Walla at its finest, and while it’s approachable today, it won’t hit maturity for 7-8 years and will evolve for a decade or more past that.

The 2011 Estate Reserve is gorgeous as well. Possessing a floral-driven bouquet that includes lead pencil shavings, black raspberry, spice and crushed flowers, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, superb mid-palate depth and a classically styled, age-worthy feel. A blend of 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot that spent 22 months in French oak, it’s another classic effort from this estate that will have 15 to 20 years of longevity. Tel.
