The 2006 The Master is 100% Montepulciano sourced from estate vineyards with modest yields of 2 tons per acre. It was aged for 15 months in 25% new French oak and 75% in seasoned French oak. Crimson-colored, it presents aromas of damp earth, spice box, red cherry, and cassis. This is followed by a lean, racy wine with slightly tart flavors and enough structure to evolve for another 2-3 years. It is true to its Italian heritage. Damien Tscharke, the youthful proprietor/winemaker of his namesake winery, is carving his own path in the Barossa by making wine from grapes such as Albarino, Tempranillo, Graciano, Zinfandel, and Montepulciano.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate; Oxnard, CA; tel.
