A knock-out effort displaying tangy acidity as well as gutsy, exuberant, muscular flavors is the 2005 The Master, an inky/ruby/purple-hued, 100% Montepulciano that tastes and smells like an Italian red. Long, rich, and heady, it is best consumed over the next 2-3 years. It would work beautifully with a series of charcuterie. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
